Nissan previews new safety system to protect drivers

nissan-tech.jpg Accidents don't happen just because you're a bad driver, they could also occur because of someone else's foolishness. Nissan is currently working on a system that tries to save a driver from harm and pull it the vehicle back to safety. They previewed the system recently and goes to show that car safety is no longer confined to verbal warnings, flashes and airbags. Reuters reports that when a car is installed with the brake-resistance device, it would try to deter the driver from changing lanes, if it detected a car zooming up from behind in the motorist's blind spot. Apparently the drivers can still override the deterrence in an emergency. Nissan hope to debut this safety feature in luxury models soon.

"Ultimately, we want the driver to have the final control," an engineer said at an annual safety product demonstration at its Oppama facility in Yokosuka, near Tokyo.
