NFL to test broadcast in 3D
The National Football League is going to show the Thursday night game between the San Diego Chargers and the Oakland Raiders in 3D. The broadcast will take place December 4, 2009 using the very latest in 3D technologies. The NFL is partnering with 3ality Digital, a company specializing in live 3D technology and a company called RealD, a leader in 3D cinema to bring the action live to fans in Boston, Los Angeles and, of course, New York City.
RealD has equipment in over 1,500 theaters worldwide, according to its website and 3ality Digital's claim to fame is U2 3D, the first concert broadcast entirely in 3D and grossing $20 million global box office sales.
