Sony Japan has announced the V5 range of full HD LCD TV's, the company claims that the power consumption of these models of 40 and 46 inches is lowest in the market. The credit for going green goes to a new system backlight which consumes less power than its peers. Other power saving innovations include a presence detector which goes on standby automatically if no one is in front of the TV or if the user is asleep. It also packs in light sensors which adjust the brightness based on ambient lighting conditions. Again this is a feature found in majority of new LCD TV's. The new Bravia V5 LCD TV's go on sale in Japan from Feb 20 with the 40 inch model selling for 210,000 Yen ($ 2300) and 46 incher selling for 260,000 Yen ($ 2900)
