New Rent-a-friend service in vogue in Japan

friends-wanted.jpg It’s simple to brag about things that you don’t have of your own, on a temporary basis. Just rent out a Limo or an expensive sports bike for a day and have all the women drooling for you. Now here’s another simple hiring trick that can get everyone to believe that you are cooler than one could imagine. This time, it’s not a car, but a friend. Weddings, especially, are a place where you can really get in touch with some rather famous people, and if you’re seen all alone then it’s not going to win you many brownie points. This has been started as a last resort option for Japanese couples who would like to up their number of guest by simply renting them out. I wish I had such a service to turn to when I was in school and the counselor constantly summoned my folks. There’s nothing like a hired mom to listen to all the gibbering talk on how badly they’ve raised me. Or maybe, a bunch of hired friends on some social networking site like Facebook, or how about a thousand followers on Twitter for that matter.

A single friend can be rented for £127 (~$209). If you want the agent (hired friend) to give a heart warming speech then it will cost you £64 (~$105) extra. Song and dance performances will up the rate by £32 (~$53).
