New ‘fishy’ robot run on new Power Tube fuel cell, can swim for three days

Fuel-Cell-Fish-Bot.jpg New concepts in fuel cells are always an interesting topic. What’s even more interesting though is this, a robot fish that will be powered by a new fuel cell that’s being called the "Power Tube". This ‘fishy’ concept that was designed and built by the Faculty of Engineering at Osaka City University, can alternatively run on a standard lithium-polymer battery as well. The new cell would allow this sea faring robot to swim for up to three whole days before sinking. It uses a 10MW magnetic actuator motor to save energy and is fitted with a ‘movable sinker’ that allows it to dive or rise based on its center of gravity. With this little fishy’s battery it’s sink or swim. This will be quite handy if fitted with a camera, for underwater rescue missions and such.
