New Daikin air-conditioners require no cleaning for a decade

With the cold winters sweeping in we have almost forgotten about summers, but with summers the air conditioners are constantly on to beat the heat, the only thing I hate is cleaning the air filters every now and then. Daikin Japan has come to the rescue with the Ururu To Sarara R line of AC's which includes a five-function self-cleaning system that "eliminates cleaning for 10 years". God bless you Daikin ! The self-cleaning system features a noiseless filter cleaning unit, a fluorine-coated filter, a self-washing heat exchanger, a bacteria and mold-proof fan and an automated internal cleaning function. The noiseless filter cleaning unit automatically cleans the filter. The filter is automatically pulled down when the air conditioner is turned off. Dust on the filter is scraped off with a rotating brush, which is collected in a dust box. The fluorine coated filter prevents dust from re-adhering, allowing grease to be easily cleaned off by hand.

An anitbacterial agent included in the coating keep the filter free of bacteria and mould. The Daikin Ururu To Sarara R line will be available in Japan from March 1 2007.
