I loved Battlefield 1942 which basically makes the latest version a must buy. Battlefield 1943 is like a souped up version of its predecessor with better graphics, more explosions, new gameplay techniques and more explosions.

In BF1943, you can play on some of the classic maps from BF1942 like Iwo Jima and Wake Island. The game supports up to 24 players online, and is hitting the PSN and XBLA this June, for $15. PC gamers can get it sometime in September.
