MultiTouch CityWall showcases Minority Report like 3D interface
Minority Report like interface is getting even closer to reality; it has at least reached the 3D interface level. By 3D, we do not mean spatially, rather as just the interface of a multitouch display system. HIIT (Helsinki Institute for Information Technology) has unveiled the newest and the coolest multitouch interface system. The Finnish company MultiTouch recently showcased CityWall multitouch LCDs, which currently is being used for an interactive exhibition that is located in downtown Helsinki, Finland. The aim of this new system is to study the Mixed Reality Interaction and Presence in Urban Environments. If you simply take a look at the video, you will see the smoothness of the interface as it manages to track multiple fingers without going berserk.
The touchscreen technology and applications have been developed by the Ubiquitous Interaction group at the Helsinki Institute for Information Technology and Multitouch.
