Microsoft Tags takes reading bar codes from mobiles to a whole new interactive level
The fact that developers have designed Bar Code reader apps for mobile handsets that enable us users to get quite a bit of useful information about products is great to begin with. Of course things have progressed quite a bit since then, from bar codes, to this Microsoft Tag. The software giant is revolutionizing the way we read information off of magazines, newspapers and such other literature. With an apparently simple mobile software, you mobile phone’s camera becomes the medium of capture for special Microsoft Tag codes that will be printed in books, possible maps and brochures of cities etc. Just by waving the camera in front of the code, no need to be overly steady or even hit the shutter release, your handset will capture the information and hook you up with all relevant data on the subject.
The technology is fantastic! It not only makes reading more interactive but also adds so much more data to what you’ve already read. Anything that helps elaborate on a subject is only spreading better understanding and knowledge and this is definitely going to be great. It’s a software that can be used with any handset and isn’t restricted to the Smartphone genre. So basically any handset that has a camera and net connectivity. From Windows Mobile devices, BlackBerrys, iPhones, Java based devices to Symbian, Microsoft has the system covered for them all. I’d love to see this in action.
