Memorex MVBD-2510-The cheapest Blu-Ray player

Memorex_Blu-ray_Player.jpg So far, the cheapest Blu-ray player has been the PS3, and even that comes at a cost as eye-popping as the visuals it churns out. Memorex, best known for its blank media products has introduced the MVBD-2510 Blu-ray Disc Player. The MVBD-2510 supports playback of all the standard disc formats including BD-ROM, DVD+ROM, DVD-R/DVD-RW, DVD+R/DVD+RW, CD-ROM, CD-R/CD-RW and JPEG on DVD/CD recordable media, but no SACD nor DVD-A playback. This is not surprising at this point, as no Blu-ray players outside of the PS3 or first generation Panasonic have supported either of those formats since Blu-ray's launch. It is only Profile 1.1, meaning that you cannot download bountiful extras to go with your large portion of HD movies, but at the very least, it’s a bold step in the switchover from plain old DVD.

The Memorex MVBD-2510 will be available starting in November and is set to cost around $269. Memorex currently has one of the cheapest new Blu-ray players on the market, though who knows how long that will last as more second-tier manufacturer’s join the club.
