Maemo MID from China is cheaper and better looking than N900
Nokia isn’t the only one with Maemo on their mind and in their devices. Chinese company called Chinaoptima has also developed a touchscreen Maemo powered MID of their own called the Optima OP5-E. The device does appear to be quite similar to Nokia’s N900 with the exception of the slide down QWERTY keypad. It comes equipped with a 4.3 inch resistive touchscreen and a 3.2 megapixel camera on board. It’s a 3G enabled device that uses an 806 MHz Marvell ARM processor its functions together with 128 MB of RAM.
The company has also thrown in quite a few other goodies with this MID to sweeten the deal. Those include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS for navigation. Chinoptima has also loaded the device with a 2600 mAH battery that they’re claiming will give users 8 hours of usage. Impressive! The Optima, according the various images making the rounds, is definitely slimmer and sleeker than Nokia’s N900 and far cheaper at $500. Look out Nokia, China’s gaining ground.
