Life Saver-Filter enabled Bottle transforms dirty water to drinkable
Water is one of the most precious gifts of nature and what a paradox it is that this same water when contaminated is the cause of death. With natural disasters striking us every now and then it's quite a task to get fresh drinkable water to the affected people. Michael Pritchard, an Ipswich-based businessman has invented a £190 bottle that makes 'foul-smelling water drinkable in seconds.' The bottle dubbed Life Saver was shown at the DESI defense show in London and the military has already shown their interest in it. The bottles can distill either 4000 liters or 6000 liters of water without changing the filter. The bottle has also been voted "Best Technological Development" at the Soldier Technology conference.
After seeing the pathetic conditions of the Tsunami 2004 refugees and the Hurricane Katrina victims crave for fresh water, Mr. Pritchard, who runs a water treatment business in Ipswich, invented this bottle. Apparently conventional filters can cut out bacteria measuring more than 200 nanometers but not viruses, which typically are 25 nanometers long. Life Saver bottles can clean up any water including faecal matter using a filter that cuts out anything longer than 15 nanometers, which means that viruses can be filtered out without the use of chemicals. The Life Saver-Filter enabled Bottle sells for £190 ($ 385).
