Life like robots gearing up for sale via Japan’s Sogo & Seibu department stores

actroid_robots.jpg It seems like the beginning of the android revolution has begun and surprise surprise (I mean that with a large scoop of sarcasm) Japan is the birth place. One of the local businesses, a department store called Sogo & Seibu, have offered their customers the chance to purchase a life-like robotic clone of themselves. So far they’ve already got two and they’ll be accepting orders for more in the next month. These silicone (and I find that amusing as the robots showcased are of the female variety) are designed to move just a portion of their upper body and speak via voice recorded information you’d have to feed into it. The company in charge of making these android styled robots is Kokoro who have had limited success in this field. The price - $225,000 for each self styled robot. For now though it’s a publicity stunt which should attract quite a lot of business to their stores.
