LG opens the world's largest LCD plant
LG Philips has opened up a new LCD factory outside Seoul - Korea. The ground floor of this mammoth factory has an area of 307,000 square meters about the size of six football fields thus making it the largest LCD factory in the world. Built at a cost of $5 billion this factory will churn out 720,000 42-inch panels by end of this year. The factory in addition to 42 inch panels will also make 47 inch panels.
The completed plant is the core facility at the company’s LCD complex in Paju, which is scheduled for completion by 2012 on a 4.6 million sq.m plot.
