Kodak also brings out Z1085 IS, Z1285 and Z8612 Zoom Compacts
Adding innovation to the lineup, Kodak has upped the Z series digital cameras by introducing the Z1085 IS, Z1285 and Z8612. All of them feature the ability to output their stills in both 720p and 1080i HD formats. The Easyshare Z1085 IS features 10MP and the Z1285 features 12MP and both are 5X optical zoom cameras that are also able to record HD format video and display their stills on HDTVs. They also both offer MPEG-4 compression to help get the large 720p30 HD format files down to a decent size. Furthermore both are mid-sized compact cameras built around 5X zoom Schneider-Kreuznach-branded lenses. The 35-175mm (in 35 equivalent terms), lenses have maximum apertures of f/2.8 at the wide-angle end of the zoom and f/5.1 at the long end. The Z1085 IS also has optical stabilization and higher full-res High ISO than the Z1285 that drops to 3.1MP for ISO 3200. The Easyshare Z8612 IS boasts of a 12X optical zoom, covering a 36–432 mm range (in 35mm equivalent terms), at f/2.8-4.8. It is an 8.1MP camera that offers ISO 3200 at 2.2 MP. It cannot record HD video and is very different from the other two Z series cameras.
Kodak Easyshare Z1085 IS and the Z1285 are expected in January 2008. The Easyshare Z8612 IS is expected to be available from April 2008.
