KAIST Gadgets uses your body skin as wire

If you thought Bone Conducting headphones were out of this world think again. A team of Korean scientists has developed a technology that uses the human body to transmit electronic signals from digital devices like MP3 players or cell phones to a wireless headset. How it works is you have to hold your MP3 player or cellphone with bare hands or attached to some part of the body in short it should have contact with skin for transmission to take place to the headset. You can be assured of the quality as the human body is an outstanding conductor and can carry signals 1 million times better than the air. It has a lot of advantages over Bluetooth, first of all Bluetooth headsets cost $ 100 and more and Bluetooth enabled phones are on the expensive side too. Whereas a headset which uses human skin for conduction costs only $ 5.

The new technology consumes less power than Bluetooth. Bluetooth being wireless is prone to tapping there is no such issue with skin conduction as it uses the skin to transmit electronic signals. This new technlogy is very simple and will be commercialized in a year, time will tell if we can expect the latest cell phones and iPods with this revolutionary technology.
