Japanese shrine to ward off evil from your gadgets

Japanritual.img_assist_custom.jpg The first thing that comes to mind when anyone mentions Japan is the cool technology that makes it so well known. However, what’s not known much about is the deeply religious roots many Japanese people share with their technology and gadgets. It’s no wonder then that there exists a shrine for people to receive blessings to their newly purchased gadgets. The Kanda-Myojin Shinto shrine is one such shrine that blesses its devotee’s gadgets with a plaque designed to emulate a microchip. This plaque is supposedly capable to protect its user from any threat imaginable. The priests at the centuries-old shrine are often called upon to perform purification rituals on computers, other electronic devices, and even new blogs!

The shrine is situated a short walk from Tokyo's electronic paradise and geek mecca, Akihabara. Now isn’t that a blessing in disguise.
