Israeli students design batsuit to glide through air
Students at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology have designed a winged flight-suit very similar to Batman’s outfit that could, allow someone dropped from an airplane to glide on their own. They estimated the size of the wings and tail that would be necessary to ensure stability, as well as how strong they would have to be to stand up to the drag forces they had calculated. After testing a model in a wind tunnel, they found that flying in a "Superman" position would be impossible due to drag.
After about 100 trials, they refined their original design into what they believe to be the perfect model and finally concluded that it’s either Batman or a super fit pilot who could comfortably wear the suit and utilize its full capacity.
