Irish airline Aer Lingus are in a deeply embarrassing position, some bloke who handles their site had by mistake put up business class transatlantic fares as € 5 ($7.9) instead of the normal €1775 ($2,820). Due to the debacle, 300 passengers who had booked the flight were left shortchanged. Naturally the airline realized their mistake and refused to take the legit passengers for such a low fare. As a compromise they offered "the option to travel in economy class at the price of their original booking." I would say this is like taking a kid to the candy store and telling him that he can't take one! After a full investigation "it appears that some customers may have genuinely believed that they were making a booking in economy class." The airline issued a statement saying that "It is regrettable that this technical error occurred and Aer Lingus recognises and accepts that customers were upset and inconvenienced. Aer Lingus apologises unreservedly to all customers."
