iPhone users get ready to say iFlip

iphone-20-clamshell.jpg According to some discreet patent applications Apple seems to be serious about catering to its flip phone fans soon. The candybar isn't the most appealing design to all sects of consumers, and how cool do you think is this flip going to be. Well for starters the patent itself outlines a phone that has two multi touch sensors, both on the "bottom" part of the phone. When it's closed, the phone acts like your current model iPhone. When it's open, only the bottom part of the phone is touch-sensitive, whereas the top part is just a display. The top/bottom touchscreen difference has the interesting effect of bringing some new features such as actually drawing out a number on the touchpad, rotating and old school dial (?), simulating a T9 dial pad, or even having both sides of the touchscreen active at once for some crazy control.

It's really sad that there is no use of this or any of apple's products for a visually challenged or an aged consumer. The iPhone plays so much emphasis on the touch screen phenomenon that it's forgetting that there are not just teenagers who are using.
