With the launch date coming closer Apple is slowly spilling the beans on the much anticipated iPhone. In a press release today Apple has announced that the iPhone's battery will pack 8 hours of talk time, and 24 hours of audio playback which according to Steve Jobs is longer than any other ‘Smartphone’ and even longer than most MP3 players. Interesting as when announced Apple claimed a battery life of 5 hours of talktime, video playback or browsing and 12 hours of audio playback. Following the Nano scratch fiasco Apple has also upgraded the entire top surface of the phone including the 3.5 inch screen to optical-quality glass to achieve a superior level of scratch resistance and optical clarity.
