Indians to make $10 Laptop to rival the OLPC

olpc-xo-india.jpg The OLPC or one Laptop Per Child scheme costing $188/laptop may be too expensive for India but that has not deterred them to think big. According to the Indian Minister of State for Human Resource Development, work is underway to come up with a $10 Laptop for the poor kids. Backing this claim is the team of researchers from the prestigious Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras. In a country where basic education is still not available at the grass root levels, this ambitious project is a big step.
