I had to finally give in and start switching my cell phone off at nights.
Recently I had to take a very tough decision; I was getting these crank calls on my cell phone at 4.00 am and despite repeated complaints, the guy wouldn't give up. I had to finally give in and start switching my cell phone at nights. It was a really tough call and didn't even realize that I could be a prime candidate for Nomophobia- the fear of being out of mobile phone contact. Millions apparently suffer from "no mobile phobia" which has been given the name nomophobia. After doing stories on the Korean people checking into rehab for cell phone addiction, I wasn't so worried but now I am wondering if I am one of those 53% that get afflicted with nomophobia. People are so dependant on the mobile phone that finding out that it's out of charge or is catching no signal can send their sends stress levels soaring. We can't fathom ourselves not "being in touch" with others at all given times, which is why many don't ever switch our mobiles off!
A research suggests that more than 13million Britons fear being out of mobile phone contact. More than one in two said they never switch it off. One in ten say that they need to be contactable at all times because of their jobs, while 9% say that having their phone switched off made them anxious. Experts say nomophobia could affect up to 53% of mobile phone users, with 48% of women and 58% of men questioned admitting to experiencing feelings of anxiety when they run out of battery or credit, lose their phone or have no network coverage.
