HTC HD2 will now be running Android 4.0

06-HD2-ICS.jpg HTC HD2 has long been a favorite phone for the hardware enthusiasts and modders. It first made it to the shelves in November 2009 as a Windows Mobile 6.5 when its hack-friendly architecture instantly won hearts of our tech pundits. Post this, its arrival on the Android platform was pretty much predicable. We have now heard that just a couple of days back an AOSP Ice Cream Sandwich ROM for the HTC HD2 has been put up for download.

It is not fully perfect yet but still impressively close given how long it has taken to be released. Everything except USB mass storage, the camera and hardware acceleration seems to be in good shape. Also this of ICS comes straight from the source code as compared to the slightly tweaked builds based on Android SDK. here’s also some user-patchable problems with the Android Market, call quality and root access but you can still check out the ROM in action below.
