Hop-On's HOP1900 is a Disposable Cell Phone for Use on Verizon's Open Network. It will be sold to distributors by Hop-On's subsidiary Graffiti Wireless. You'll be able to pick them up at various convenience stores for under $50. The price however does not seem to include any talk time and the phone itself can be charged many times. Going by the specs featured, it looks like that phone does not have a screen. I can imagine the teens going handicapped with such a phone, after all texting and MMS is their life. However it will be an ideal companion if you want to save on roaming costs while traveling. "Hop-on's disposable cell phone is the perfect low-cost solution for anyone who may need to occasionally use a cell phone but doesn't want the commitment with a contract" says president Peter Michaels. "Some people just want to make a simple phone call and they don't need all the bells and whistles associated with a fancy phone or a regular calling plan. Now that Verizon will be opening their networks to other devices, the market for our low-price, high-quality phones will increase dramatically." Michaels also stated "The disposable phone is a great way for carriers to add customers onto their networks."

The environmentally conscious will be happy to know that the disposable phone is easily recycled for a rebate reward from Hop-on.
