Here’s how they did the Star Wars opening crawl back in the day
At the beginning of each Star Wars movie the epilogue entry that extends across your screen into space beyond has been one of the more unique trends that Lucas created in his saga. But it seems like it’s taken as really longtime for someone to actually post something about how this effect was created. It’s so simply that I feel stupid now think, as a kid that some heavy duty computer was used to create this effect and technicians were working over time just for this sequence. This is of course true with the digitally re-mastered prints only it was probably a small laptop and just one guy who did it in about an hours or so. A large glossy plate that had the script was used and the camera was slowly rolled over it. The plate itself was about six feet long.
