I have used this kind of a heating coil, and its small stature belies its heat generating properties. I had put it in a cup of milk and the whole thing boiled over! The only difference was that I had a stick with a plug point and this one hooks up to the comp via USB to source power. The plug in version cost around a dollar, but this baby's still in its conceptual stage.
