Hackers develop digital door opener using Foursquare Check-In
Push notification services on Foursquare just got a totally handy or totally scary hack. A couple of developers Erin Sparling and Nicholas Hall have created an additional layer of utility for the social networking application that allows you to open the door to your apartment when you check-in at your address. Using the push notification service, Alpha 2.0 API coupled with an industrial web-enabled relay device and basic speaker wire these guys have devised on helluva key system for their apartment. The hack is being called ‘New Year’s Eve’ as they intend to make it available for all mobile phone Foursquare users on the day. The goal -arty goers will be able to access party locations digitally, how cool is that, Mayor of the Party!
