Google's Android makes a show at MWC
Texas Instruments had the honor of showing a white-label phone operating on Android with working internet. Finally the first mobile phone operating on this platform is shown to the public. Android as an operating system will end up in the same section as where the Symbian and Windows Mobile systems are. We think, there is not much news in comparison with other platforms, but it could be the software developers that are working on the software for Android will still come with the real "killer-app". The browser of Android makes us think of a mix between the Series 40 platform of Nokia, the Symbian OS and Windows Mobile. When it comes to possibilities and the menu operation is even a little complicated. Despite of this, browsing the normal internet is not a problem. The camera role of Android can is between the Apple iPhone and Windows Mobile. Just like the Apple iPhone's limited camera features; and the basic roles present in a Windows Mobile camera well Android is between these two.
Android looks mediocre but the real spectacular feature still has to come. Also the software seems a little slow. It takes a while before applications start and navigation within applications also takes some time. Whether this is a processor or software problem is something the future will tell.
