Global Campus – University of Illinois' virtual campus seems deserted

university_of_Illinois.jpg How many students are currently taking classes online? How about through the University of Illinois' new Global Campus? The multimillion-dollar program launched this year with high expectations, just 10 students managed to enroll. The virtual campus was meant to help expand the school's reach, making courses available to nontraditional students, like working adults, and generating a new source of revenue. Expectations were raised by high initial interest.

Around 3,000 people, for instance, had inquired about signing up for the online nursing courses. Only three ended up enrolling. At least partly, said Gardner- special assistant to University President-, due to prerequisites, including that participants already be registered nurses. Well DUH! Why would I want to be a nurse again if I am one already?
