German teenage gunner spurs debate on elimination of violent games

violent_games.jpg Incase you have spent the last week sleeping under a rock and haven’t heard yet, a German teenager Tim Kretschmer went on a shooting rampage, killing fifteen people. Now as soon as that happened the link to playing violent video games has once again taken centre stage. In detailed reports it was revealed that, he told his online friend that he planned to go to his former school and "give them hell." Kretschmer's online pal replied with "LOL" as well as "I need to see some pictures before I believe it," Shortly after the online conversation Kretschmer went to his former school in Winnenden and killed nine students and three teachers. He then left the school and killed three other people in the surrounding area. Police managed to close in on the troubled youth three and a half hours later, was shot dead in a gun fight with local police.

Kretchmer had been treated for depression, but stopped his treatment and started to study business, but still was treated in outpatient sessions. It also was noted at his resident they found guns, pornography, and violent videogames.
