Focal corp Japan has announced the Firewave 5.1 channel sound adapter for Macs which connects via Firewire. Adopting a clean and classy look like a Mac this little white box provides 5.1 channel sound output for your Mac. With Doly Pro Logic II it includes movie and music modes so you can blast the house while watching a DVD movie or playing music from iTunes. There is no need of an external power adapter as the Firewave draws power from the Firewire port itself. The unit has 3 x Stereo mini outputs for connecting 5.1 ch speakers and 2 x Firewire ports. Volume and other sound properties can be controlled from the software itself. The Firewave is compatible with Mac OS X 10.4.6 and above.

The Focal Firewave measures 77×132×25mm and weighs 210 grams. It will be available in Japan from October for 14,800 Yen ($ 128)
