Find Waldo on rooftops you 'Google god'!

waldo.jpg If you call yourself a geek, a hardcore internet expert that surfs the internet waves, then this is an open challenge for you. Find Waldo (or Wally) who is hiding on top of a high riser in Vancouver, using only Google Earth. For those who don't know Where's Waldo is a series of children's books created by the British illustrator Martin Handford. The aim is to find Waldo, in a busy picture full of people. He dresses in a red and white striped shirt and bobble hat, carries a wooden walking stick, and wears glasses. Now Vancouver art student Melanie Coles has put him up a building roof and wants you to find him using the satellite imaging software of Google Earth. The installation measures 16.5 meters long by 5. 5 meters wide; it also offers a contemporary twist on ancient artworks carved into hillsides and landscapes as offerings to celestial beings. "This is what I'm surrendering to the Google god," Coles said.

The installation went up on the undisclosed Vancouver rooftop on March 22 and has already generated a ton of public interest. You can check Coles' blog, www. whereonearthiswaldo.com, where aerial images of Waldo can be viewed.
