It has been confirmed by Ferrari president Luca Cordero that his company is testing a 599-based prototype vehicle with a hybrid drivetrain. No other specifics including whether the car was a parallel hybrid was disclosed by the company. The technology will be borrowed from F1 for future models. Ferrari aims to reduce the CO2 emissions by 40% by 2012. The company is also believed to be considering turbocharged six-cylinder engines as a short-term solution to its efficiency goals. The hybrid car would fundamentally be a Ferrari in terms of driving pleasure, experience and performance. The model is still several years away but can be expected in the year 2015.
