Energy Efficient RavenWindow Responds to External Temperatures
Remember those glasses that would darken in sunny conditions and then blind the wearer when they entered a room from outside? Well, the RavenWindow is a variation of those that looks set to be a lot more successful. Designed by RavenBrick, the RavenWindow becomes more or less transparent according to outside temperatures. When it’s hot the glass becomes darker and when it’s cold, clearer to let in the heat from the sun. The implications are that you will use your heater or air conditioner less, and save money on your energy bills. The secret behind the design is a layer of thermoreflective material between the panes of glass which becomes more reflective as temperatures increase, refracting a minimum of 90% of the incoming solar energy. Indeed, every inch of this product screams eco-friendly. It is even made from "an organic, nontoxic polymer".
RavenBrick claim that RavenWindow will cut your energy bills by at least 30%. "America's Greenest Building" has already placed an order for the first commercial installation of RavenWindow to test this out.
