We don’t usually think about what happens to the waste we produce and flush down the drain, but one thought to keep in mind is that every time one flushes a considerable amount of water is wasted. This is because no one has yet come up with a better solution for the John in the last 100 years. Until now all we have seen are either high pressure low quantity water flushing toilets, or the chemical toilets used in RVs or airplanes. That’s where the idea of an EcoJohn came up; the EcoJohn simply put burns up the waste instead of flushing down litres of water down the drain. Frankly I don’t see how this is an environmentally friendly solution, especially when it requires massive amounts of heat to burn the waste. Won’t that increase your gas bills and not to mention the smoke from all that burning will surely cause a huge whole in the ozone layer.

The makers of the EcoJohn say that by adding a catalytic converter before the smoke is released into the air will keep our environmentalists friends happy.
