The Aibo is long gone and along comes another entrant to fill the vacuum. This one is Dog-Wan developed by Daisen robotics Osaka. Dog-Wan stands tall at 700mm it is 530mm in length and weighs 5 kg. Made from molded polycarbonate the quadruped has a single servo meter delivering 40.8 kg cm of torque. It can sit, walk, wag its tail and can even carry a 2kg shopping bad in its mouth. The onboard gyro sensors give it a sense of balance and prevent it from falling. Dog-Wan is currently under development and the company would be offering them on a made-to-order basis. They will offered on a 2 year lease with a monthly rental of 30,000 Yen ($ 300).
