If the pictures of the mysterious woman on Mars did not spook you then maybe this will. Apparently a large U.S. spy satellite has lost power and could hit the Earth in late February or early March. The agencies responsible for the satellite cannot control it and there is a possibility that the craft contains hazardous materials. What's even more worrying is that its crash destination cannot be predicted. In spite of it being a classified secret, luckily some officers have delved info on it on the condition of anonymity.
It is not known how long ago the satellite lost power, or under what circumstances.
"Appropriate government agencies are monitoring the situation," said Gordon Johndroe, a spokesman for the National Security Council, when asked about the situation after it was disclosed by other officials. "Numerous satellites over the years have come out of orbit and fallen harmlessly. We are looking at potential options to mitigate any possible damage this satellite may cause."
They could possibly shoot down the satellite, but is also not clarified by the agencies.
Apparently the spacecraft contains hydrazine which is rocket fuel and Hydrazine is a colorless liquid with an ammonia-like odor. It is a toxic chemical and can cause harm to anyone who contacts it. Spy satellites normally are disposed of through a controlled re-entry into the ocean so that no one else can access the spacecraft. Source
