Digifriends and NextWave launch the M3 MID

MID.JPG Korea-based Digifriends and NextWave Wireless have finally come out with a Modular MID called the M3. The two companies formally announced several weeks ago that they had joined hands to develop the "sophisticated, WiMAX-enabled Mobile Internet Device" known as the M3. The M3 is powered by NextWave's 1.2GHz Intel Silverthorne processor. The device features a 0.3-megapixel front, 2-megapixel rear camera, a 4.8” touchscreen that supports resolutions of 1024x600. It has a 1.3” HDD that can provide 30-60GB of space; on the connectivity front, it supports WiMAX (2.3 to 2.5GHz), WiBro (KT) 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, along with Bluetooth 2.0 EDR. Not to forget the inbuilt terrestrial DMB (DVB-H, 1-Seg) receiver. The lack of a slide out keyboard isn’t really a good sign. However, it comes as an added accessory, along with other gadgets as a GPS device and stereo speakers.

The M3 MID is not due for launch until the second half of next year, for a yet to be announced price.
