Croatia’s DOK-ING XD electric car may be small but buffed to the hilt with speed and in car entertainment

xd_electric_car.jpg I’m one of those guys who roots for the underdog. Even though I’m a fan of the Ferrari’s and Porches of the world I’m an even bigger fan of the Mini Cooper, so naturally when I happened to get wind of this Croatian-made, mini electric car my curiosity was peaked. The DOK-ING XD is a 100kg, 2.8-metres long, 1.6-metres tall and 1.7-metres wide ‘little’ car. While it looks a bit like a normal sized car has been put through the crusher and compressed to this size, it does have a certain funky look about it. Its 80kW/360Nm electric motor that’s powered by lithium-ion-phosphate batteries (that can recharge in eight hours) enable the XD to go from 0 to 100km/h in just 7.7 seconds. The car can travel up to 200-250km without needing a recharge. The XD’s in-car features include Sat-nav, Bluetooth, DVD and touch-screen infotainment system as well as 360-degree airbags.

The seating arrangement is a bit weird. Instead of two seats in front the driver is seated in the dead center while the passengers can slip in and sit in the rear. There doesn’t seem to be a price attached to this cool car yet but I already know I want one.
