Comcast to warn users crossing 250GB in downloads

comcast_fake_ad.jpg If you got Comcast as your ISP its time you got worried since its going to cap residential users who cross the 250GB bandwidth quota from the first of October. Comcast last year had cut off many of its user's connection for excess bandwidth usage without providing those customers any information on limitation. That's not all when Comcast had blocked access to file sharing sites for its users the Associated Press and the Electronic Frontier Foundation took action and with their efforts issued a directive from the FCC forcing them to be more transparent about its network management policy by year's end. Comcast on its end admitted to delaying P2P traffic during peak times but denied ever blocking access to any site. According to the new initiative bandwidth hogs might encounter delays of up to 20 minutes during peak traffic times.

Comcast will run banner notices on its Comcast.net home page and security channel Web site about this new 250GB cap and will notify users who cross the limit by calling them.
