Cars serve as bait for thieves

grand_theft_auto.jpg Thieve have it in them to make a jump at anything that’s valuable and left unattended. Well, the cops stationed at Arlington County have decided to use this technique to nab them. All they do is leave a car in an apparent unattended state and wait for the thieves to break open the car. Once that’s done, they monitor the movements of the thief with the help of a hidden camera. An alarm is set off and the police headquarters are informed of the same. A GPS device aids the cops in tracing the whereabouts of the thieves. The car is so controlled that all the cops have to do is send an electric signal to disable its motion and the car, which has by now turned into a moving high security vault grinds to a halt at a preplanned ambush.

Nice plan, but then if you provoke a thief to make the first move how on earth can you keep down the number of people who will approach a car that’s left unattended? On the other hand this is a safer technique as compared to the high-speed chases.
