Booze Cruise is the best way to teach teens the ills of drunk driving

Drunk_Driver.jpgAfter a very long time I am feeling so passionate about a topic. At some point in our lives we all have been affected by a drunk-driving case. To drive home the point that booze and cars don't mix, a video game has been developed by a Canadian company. The game is titled Booze Cruise and has been developed by Jim Parker, a digital-media professor at the University of Calgary and a number of his students as a school project. "The basic story is that this person is absolutely pissed and woke up in the trunk of their car and now is going to drive home," Parker said. The game mimics life like experiences; the player has to get home in 90 seconds but due to his state he experiences narrowed, blurred vision and reaction times are slower. He has to navigate past obstacles that include pedestrians, other cars and a police checkpoint. "And then just for fun, we put distractions on the side of the road, like pink elephants," Parker said.

Police in Calgary, Alberta have provided input as the team researched the game, in a bid to make it as realistic as possible. The Police also hope that the game will have a huge positive impact on the teens. The game is aimed at teens aged between 13 and 16. The developers hope to persuade them that alcohol will affect their skills. "We want to stop them from doing it in advance."
