Beware of an ingenious phishing tactic via parking tickets
In a rather bizarre instance of what may be a precursor to more severe phishing attacks, a group of rather smart spammers have resorted to target unsuspecting people not via the traditional forms of spam email. Rather these bunch of miscreants are targeting car owners by using fear as a weapon to install malware on unsuspecting car owner’s computers. The spammers print up phony "PARKING VIOLATION" notices and plaster them on cars parked on the street. The phony ticket directs the car's owner to visit a certain website, and of course the website in question is a hack site which attempts to install malware on your PC. As of now these guys are just targeting the streets of Grand Forks, North Dakota, but it’s better to be aware of this tactic before it’s too late.
