Audi’s Multi Media Interface just got a wee bit more sophisticated with the next generation R8 MMI. This upgraded interface will include handwriting recognition to enter text quickly and without risking your neck while entering text with clumsy buttons. However, the real value of this dashboard navigation system for Audi will be given its full credit when it actually rolls on, from the tests to the roads.

There’s nothing much on the ‘compatibility’ front as far as most navigation interfaces are concerned but looking back at the reputation of Audi NAV interfaces we may well be looking at something a little less unimportant. I would still vouch for speech-to-text.
