Asus R1 and R2 UMPC
The year 2006 has proved to be a great year for Asus – it has released a wide range of products this year. Making a name for itself in the mobile market Asus is unveiling a plethora of mobile devices be it 11.1" ultra-light notebooks or 17" desktop replacements. The R1 tablet PC sports a sleek 13.3” widescreen display. The pc is fully equipped to handle all your computing need with support for Intel Core Duo T2300, T2400, T2500 and T2600 processors, DVD burner, modular drive bay to support an additional battery, GbE, an ExpressCard slot and biometric security. You also have the option of choosing Hard drive options from 80GB, 100GB and 120GB offerings.
Another candidate to be reckoned with is the new R2 UMPC. With a display measuring 7” and a standard GPS module that makes tracking it very easy. It supports a hard-drive option of 20GB, 30GB, 40GB or 60GB, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR a built-in 1.3MP webcam. To fight the poor battery life problem, Asus has introduced new R1H battery that provides power for more than 2 hours.
The approximate pricing for R1 is around $2000 and R2 is expected to retail at around $1000 in its base form.
