Apple's trademark Fifth Avenue store in New York in the news again not because of a stuck elevator but thanks to Greenpeace activists. Around 60 of them took to the streets and started shining green lights as Greenpeace elves danced around the store protesting the company's use of toxic chemicals in its hardware. With Christmas coming many of last years gifts will be tossed out to make way for shiny new iPod's and Macs wheras the old ones will be dumped in some developing country to be dismantled by underaged labourers. Despite having an image steeped in California's counterculture, Apple is one of the worst heel-draggers when it comes to recycling and environmental impact. The company claims to have recycled a mere 4500 tons of E-Waste which is puny given the amount of equipment the firm sells.
