Apple iPhone 3G coming in next year says AT&T's Stephenson

iPhone.jpg "You'll have it next year,"' will soon become a historic quote! According to AT&T Inc. Chief Executive Officer Randall Stephenson, Apple Inc. is getting set to intro a new version of the iPhone next year that can download from the Internet at a faster rate. The phone will work on 3G wireless networks. Stephenson also added that Apple Chief Executive Officer Steve Jobs ``will dictate what the price of the phone is.'' So that should answer two most important aspects of the new iPhone, albeit only for the time being. The ball is in Jobs court to furnish us with more details. But this we know that he plans on selling 10 million iPhones worldwide in 2008. Some analysts feel that the prospect of a new upped iPhone coming out next year will put potential buyers on hold. Although this may not put a dent in the sales figure.

Presently the battery life of the phone is an issue as it will not be sufficient to support 3G. The handset has eight hours of battery life, and 3G chips are "real power hogs," Jobs said at a news conference in London. "We've got to see the battery lives for 3G get back up into the five-plus-hour range," he said. "Hopefully we'll see that late next year."

Finally Apple and AT&T have initiated a true stop for all of the iPhone unlockers out there. You want to unlock our phone? Have at it, and be stuck on EDGE with Tmobile. Oh, you want 3G? Welcome to Cingular, the New AT&T and our ridiculously high data charges. You're going to pay for these and love it, because Steve Jobs has finally delivered with the iPhone 3G.

As for the guys across the pond, it's really a lost cause, heck, the EU is probably going to force everyone to unlock that bad-boy anyway.
