Apple and its sky high prices.

Apple_high_prices.jpg Buying a new PC gives me the jitters, its all the things to watch out for the price pitfalls the falling value of electronics & worst is 3months after my purchase a new & better processor comes along that uses an all new architecture of operation. Nevertheless, no matter how much I prod or ponder buying a Mac won't make it to into my To Do list anytime sooner, the reason being its heavenly price. Case in point RAM, try taking your new MAC into an apple store for an estimate to upgrade its ram. A minimum quote would be around $700-800$ to upgrade a 2GB iMac to 4GB. What is this, RAM for millionaires?

Buying the newest meanest PC based hardware on my own will set me back to around 2000$ but the same configuration MAC would be worth twice as much. Makes me wonder if Apple actually makes its parts with GOLD implanted into it with a dash of Swarovski crystals just to make the assembler happy. This would not be a problem for the people who own mansions just to keep there dogs happy, but when a competitor sells ram at 125-200$ its being unusually snobby of Apple to price products so high.

Wow... This is the kind of article that turns me off of a site. Not because I'm a bit of a fan boy but it shows an utter lack of research on the authors part!

The average Mac, spec for spec, is on a par or in some cases even cheaper than the equivalent pre-built Windows box.
RAM, especially for older machines (as has been reported on a number of websites recently), is a little expensive from Apple. But, Macs use the same kind of RAM as other machines, if you buy it away from Apple it'll be a LOT cheaper. Most people buy their new Mac with the minimum amount of RAM and upgrade it themselves...
