A-Data to offer SD cards with E-Ink displays
In the Jurassic era we used the floppy disk, which succumbed to the magnet and held only 1.5 MB. In this techno age where storage capacity is inversely proportionate to the size of the card, it’s kind of difficult to know exactly how much space you have used on the disk without plugging into a computer. Well the good news is that from now on you will be able to tell (rather see) how much fee space is available on the drive/storage media thanks to A DATA. This Taiwanese company will release the Info SD, the first SD card to feature a bi-stable display, which will inform you of the card’s remaining space. Bi-stable is just geekspeak to say that the display will work without the need to have electricity applied: it’s updated once its inserted in a device, and retains its value when removed.
Pricing hasn’t been announced, but average SD cards don’t come with fancy eInk displays, do they now?.
